Being sick sucks... or does it

Sure, it sucks... No way around it. I'm usually pretty lucky when it comes to the cold and flu season. I stay fit, eat right, and get enough sleep, and I don't usually get sick. But this past week has been no fun at all. Nothing major - just a little sore throat and sniffle for a few days. But the lingering little things have been killing me - the aches, the cough, the light-headedness. The general feeling of something-not-quite-right... I keep thinking today's the day everything will be back to normal and today never quite gets here. You know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I've been taking my Emergen-C, and eating right, taking it easy on the workouts along with lots of hot showers and baths to soak it all out. Slowly but surely, my body's getting back to 100%.

But every cloud has a silver lining, don't you know. I'm looking forward to the best part. The day when I wake up and realize it's all gone. Like hot needs cold, and good needs bad, health needs sickness. It's only when you've recovered from an illness, be it a cold or a muscle tear, that you truly appreciate just how good it feels to be healthy. Every day I wake up, I'm thankful to be alive, with my health and my family and friends around me. But that first day of health, this is the time you want to burn it into your memory.

THIS is what it feels like to be healthy, happy, and alive.

You just gotta love it.
